10 Days/9 Nights Aberdare- Samburu-Sweetwater’s-Mt. Kenya National Park-Lake Nakuru-Masai Mara

Day 1: Nairobi - Aberdare National Park

Departing from the capital of Kenya, Nairobi, we drive to Aberdare National Park arriving in time for lunch. The park has steep forested ravines, moorlands and a variety of wildlife and birdlife like the leopard, spottedhyena, blackrhinos, olive baboons, colobus monkeys, buffalos, warthogs and bushbucks.It also accommodates rare animals like the Giant forest hog, bongo, golden cat, servalcat, Africanwild cat. After lunch and check in, have a siesta before an afternoon game drive. 

The Ark, a magical place centered in the heart of the parkoverlooks a floodlit waterhole and saltlick, whichattracts a host of wildlife. It compromises of three decks from which numerous balconies and lounges provide a superb location for wildlife to be seen. There is also a ground level bunker-the perfect hideout for the discerning photographer get up close to the animals to even pat them, or smell the rich aromas all in complete safety. If you are lucky, a leopard, lion or elephant might just put on an appearance. Return to lodge/camp and overnight stay.

Day 2: Aberdare National Park- Samburu Game Reserve

After breakfast, we drive from Aberdare to Samburu Game Reserve, arriving in time for lunch.  After check in and lunch, have a siesta before an afternoon game drive. Famous for where the conservationists George and Joy Adamson raised Elsa the lioness, made famous in the best-selling books and award winning movie Born Free, the Samburu National Reserve is also home to Kamunyak, a lioness famous for adopting Oryxcalves.

The park neighbors the home of the Samburu tribe of Kenya, a tribe known for its remote cultural,pastoral,nomadic way of life.Due to its remote distance and the fact that it was inaccessible for years,the park has retained a naturally serene and quiet feeling.The park is also a bird haven. In the middle of the park the Ewaso Ng’iro flows through doum palm groves and thick riverine forests which provides water to this arid region. Return to lodge/camp and overnight stay.

Day 3: Full Day Exploring Samburu Game Reserve

We start our day at dawn when dawn breaks exploring the Ragged and semi desert park. Once inside the park there are two mountains visible Koitogor and Ololokwe. The natural serenity that is evident. Birdwatching, hiking and Game viewing is highly favorable with the likes of dik-diks, native gerenuk, grevy’szebra, reticulated giraffe and Beisa Oryx.

The Ewaso Ng’iro also empties into the famous Lorian Swamp where you also get to witness Nile crocodiles swimming or basking in the river. We also take a Cultural tour of the local villages and local community who live around the park and experience their authentic culture and indigenouslifestyle which is also a good opportunity to purchase Samburu souvenirs, art and collectibles.  All meals will be served at the lodge/camp. Return to lodge/camp and overnight stay.

Day 4: Samburu National Reserve – Sweetwater’s Game Sanctuary

Depart after breakfast and travel to the exotic Sweetwater’s Game Sanctuary in the secluded heart of Ol Pejeta Ranch and Rhino Reserve, arriving in time for lunch. Here, these magnificent beasts are given sanctuary from those who would take their lives to sell their horns.

Here too, the Jane Goodall Institute operates a remarkable Chimpanzee Sanctuary where we meet the primates face to- face. Our camp also overlooks one of the busiest waterholes in the area and offers elephant, giraffe and myriad plains game. This is Africa as Teddy Roosevelt saw it years ago when he led one of the first safaris to tour Africa in comfort and splendor. After lunch and siesta take an afternoon game drive. Return to the lodge/camp for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Sweetwater’s Game Sanctuary – Mt. Kenya National Park

After breakfast we travel to Mt Kenya National Park which lies approximately 176kms North East of Nairobi and occupies an area of approximately 700 sq. kms, with a landscape comprising of mainly of forest and bare rock. After lunch and siesta take afternoon game drive.

The park is considered as the most favorite and the most popular with tourists. The region is home to a variety of wildlife including some unique and rare species, such as the Black and White Columbus and the Sykes monkeys, buffalo, Bushbuck, elephant, Olive baboon, black rhino, waterbuck, leopard, hyena and bongo are also found here. Return to lodge/camp for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6: Mt. Kenya National Park - Lake Nakuru National Park

Depart from Mt. Kenya National Park for the famous pink lake in the Rift Valley region, we drive down the scenic escarpment of The Great Rift Valley with a brief stop at Rift Valley Escarpment for a panoramic and breathe taking view of the Great escarpment weather permitting. Visit Thompson falls, for a slice of heavenly serenity by its sparkling waters.

After lunch, relax and we proceed to Lake Nakuru Nature park. Enjoy an afternoon game drive along the shores where you will have an opportunity to see millions of migratory birds including the Greater and lesser flamingo. In the acacia woodland, gets an opportunity to see plain game including the white rhino and waterbuck. We check in to the lodge/camp for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 7: Lake Nakuru National Park– Masai Mara National Reserve

After an early breakfast at your lodge, Depart Lake Nakuru for Masai Mara Game Reserve, jewel of Kenya's Game Park, arriving just in time for lunch. This enormous Reserve is actually part of the vast Serengeti plains famously known for its spectacular great wildebeest migration and is a true home of the big five-Lion, Elephant, Leopard, Rhino and Cape Buffalo. After lunch, have a siesta before embarking on a game drive.  Return for dinner and overnight at the lodge/camp Lodge.

Day 8 & 9: Full Day Exploring Masai Mara Game Reserve

After breakfast, leave for a full day’s game drive to Masai Mara Game Reserve with a picnic lunch by Mara River with views of hippos and crocodiles. Our morning and afternoon game drives take us in search of Africa's Big Five and the plethora of other wildlife inhabiting this vast Kenyan game reserve.

On clear days, the Masai Mara offers fantastic orange tinged sunsets well-worth capturing on camera. The vast Masai Mara offers abundance of wildlife such as Masai giraffe, baboons, warthogs, bat eared foxes, grey jackals, spotted hyena, topis, impala, hartebeests, wildebeest. elephants, buffaloes, zebras, hippos and  bird species. It is also common to see lions either basking after a heavy meal or surveying the wild plains for their next meal. Cheetahs and leopards are harder to spot but reasonably common. Return to lodge/camp for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 10: Masai Mara Game Reserve – Nairobi
