Elephant Bedroom

Elephant Bedroom Camp offers luxury in a setting of breath taking beauty. It is set along the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River and shaded by doum palms and other trees that make up this green belt of riverine forest in Samburu National Reserve. The surrounding Samburu National Reserve is an area of spectacular scenery; its dry plains bisected by the meandering river, with the backdrop of Africa's dramatic mountains, including Mt Kenya. The 12 spacious tents have rustic and colourful African touches, offering all the comforts; including a private plunge pool on the deck, hot and cold running water, electricity (and complimentary herbal shower and bath products).

The lounge and dining area is decorated with vibrant safari style, its soft intimate lighting assuring that this is the ultimate place to relax in between exciting game drives. Elephant, Monkeys, Impalas are amongst the camp's many regular wild visitors, whilst Samburu National Reserve has a good number of lions and leopards and offers the opportunity to see many species endemic to northern Kenya.

Larsens Camp

Larsen’s Camp is set along the bank of the Uaso Nyiro River, which flows through the Samburu National Reserve some 320 kms north of Nairobi in a semi-arid region of Kenya’s Rift Valley Province. Designed in contemporary safari style, Larsen’s Camp offers luxury accommodation in the spectacular surroundings of the Samburu Game Reserve. The camp has a pleasant setting surrounded by pristine wilderness and overlooking the river, which attracts a broad range of wildlife including elephants, which come to the water to drink.  

Accommodation consists of 20 tents, accommodating 40 guests. Each tent stands on a plinth of natural stone and all have en suite private bathrooms stocked with a range of Molton Brown toiletries, flushing toilets, constant hot water and 24-hour electricity (240 volts). Larsen’s Safari Camp tents all features 1 king or 2 twin beds designed in chic safari style.  Larsen’s Safari Camp climate is equatorial desert type. The weather is hot all year round with daytime temperatures up to 33 degrees Centigrade. The nights are cool.

Sasaab (Samburu Plains)

Sasaab is a stunning lodge set on a hillside in the Westgate Community Conservancy in Kenya’s wild north. Its design is a fusion of Moroccan and Swahili influence, reflecting both the size and the beauty of Africa, while capturing the essence of safari. The cuisine at Sasaab is impeccable, using only the freshest ingredients from their own vegetable garden. Samburu Interprids Camp

Samburu Intrepids is situated on the banks of the Uaso Nyiro River in the heart of the Samburu. Samburu Intrepids looks out over riverbanks where herds of elephant, buffalo and zebra come daily to drink – together with the rarer ‘northern species’ of reticulated giraffe, Beisa Oryx and long-necked gerenuk antelope. It offers 27 modern tents with a private view over the wildlife-rich riverbanks.

The tent has soft four-poster beds, mahogany closets and desks and en-suite bathrooms with hot showers. The bathrooms also offer twin washbasins, flush toilets, and sockets for shavers and battery charging. As well as game drives to view the surrounding wilderness, the camp also offers escorted nature walks, memorable bush breakfasts and starlit dinners, sundowners, tours of Samburu villages and lectures and slide shows on culture and wildlife.

Ashnil Samburu Tented Lodge

Ashnil Samburu Camp sits in Buffalo Springs Game Reserve, which takes its name from an oasis of clear water at the western end of the reserve. It is separated from Samburu National Reserve by Ewaso Nyiro River and is less hilly and dense yet equally very attractive. There are a total number of 30 luxury tents; 18 doubles, 9 with twin beds and 3 with triple beds. Each of the exclusive comfortable deluxe tents provides a perfect view of the Ewaso Nyiro River and beautiful surrounding landscape.

Every spacious tent consists of a dressing area, sitting area, luggage rack and en-suite facilities to provide a memorable stay close to nature. Samburu Simba Lodge

Sited at a short distance from the Uaso Nyiro River, in a lush riverine forest. This huge, economical lodge is a delightful collection of structures with sloping roofs covered with wooden slats and paved stone floors. Samburu Simba Lodge has two swimming pools, one of which is a low-level infinity pool offering views of the gorgeous Samburu wilds. Tall yellow fever trees provide shade and lounge chairs furnish the stone deck around the pool.

You can also order drinks at the poolside bar as you spend time relaxing or soaking in the cool water when you return from your morning game drive or after lunch. By staying at the Samburu Simba Lodge, you could explore both Samburu National Reserve and Buffalo Springs. Samburu Sopa Lodge

Located inside the Samburu National Reserve in Northern Kenya, Samburu Sopa lodge is built atop high ground allowing panoramic views of the vastness of Samburu shrub land and the hills beyond. The lodge is built to reflect the architectural heritage of the local communities whose sons and daughters make up the majority of the work force at the lodge. 

Fifteen cottages, each with two bedrooms are built in an arch formation on either side of the public areas to surround the waterhole but leaving a wide gap to allow the animal’s free movement to the water. Outdoor dining is available at the terrace. A variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks are served at the bar. During leisure hours, guests enjoy nature walks, board games, traditional dances, bird watching, flying safaris and sundowners. Laundry service is provided for an extra charge. Onsite parking is available. The premises are guarded by security personnel.

SAMBURU SENTRIM LODGE

Sentrim Samburu Lodge is situated in Samburu National Reserve in Northern Kenya. The three National Reserves Samburu, Buffalo Springs and Shaba protect a large area along the seasonal Ewaso Nyiro River. Surrounded by interestingly shaped hills you will fall in love with this region. The semi-arid acacia - commiphora region is inhabited by elephants, buffaloes, cheetahs, lions and leopards.

In this region, you find the Northern fauna representatives: gerenuk, Grevy zebra, reticulated giraffe, Beisa Oryx, Somali ostrich and over 400 bird species. LION KING BUSH CAMP

Lion King Bush Camp is located inside Samburu National Reserve on the Ewaso Nyiro River. It offers a natural, unspoilt environment with very little interference to the bush and its inhabitants. As such, the camp remains home to myriad birds, mongoose, vervet monkeys, genet cats, tortoises, monitor lizards, to name a few. Elephants are regular visitors, often crossing the river, or taking mud baths directly in front of the camp. The atmosphere is informal, authentic, and designed for the experience-led adventure traveler. SAMBURU GAME LODGE

Samburu game Lodge is set in 10 acres of pristine riverine forest on the western bank of the Uaso Nyiro River within the Samburu National Reserve in northern Kenya at an altitude of 857 meters above sea level. The Samburu National Reserve, conjoined with the smaller but no less attractive Buffalo Springs Reserve, lies a mere 320 kilometres from Nairobi. This is true wilderness, and home to varieties of animals and birds rarely seen in other parts of the country. Here are to be found the Beisa Oryx, Gerenuk, Grevy’s zebra, the reticulated giraffe and Blue Shanked Somali ostrich. The sun-baked landscape is breathtaking with surrounding mountains shimmering on the horizon as temperatures rise. To the west, the sheer sided slopes of majestic Ol Olokwe Mountain form a perfect backdrop to any photograph.

Samburu Lodge offers a wide choice of accommodation with a mixture of decor styles spread up and down the banks of the river in cottages, bandas and single or twin rooms. All 61 rooms have large beds with mosquito nets and en-suite bathrooms and verandas overlooking the river. There are also several family rooms and one room has been custom designed to accommodate the special needs of physically challenged persons.

Cleaving the two reserves, the Uaso Nyiro River (Brown river in the local language) winds through a mature stands of Newtonia and Sycamore Fig trees, Acacia and Doum Palms, one of the few branching palms to be found anywhere in the world. Large herds of elephant are seen along the river’s banks, which are much favored by crocodiles, and there are sightings of lion, cheetah, leopard and much else besides.  Bird life abounds, a seeming anomaly given the harsh climate, but then nature in the wild is always full of delightful surprises.

UMOJA CAMP SITE

Umoja Camp Site conveniently sits on the beachfront of the Ewaso Nyiro. The campsite offers an atmosphere of complete comfort, warm customer service and an ideal calm environment, which is an ideal spot to hide away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Guests can access the camp from the Kalama Airstrip. The camp features huts fitted with beds draped with mosquito nets, neat bedding, floor tiles and en-suite bathrooms. Each room is also designed with a balcony, which offers un-obscured views of the environment. Guests can enjoy a variety of meals at the onsite restaurant and order beverages from the bar. Breakfast is served daily at a surcharge. Laundry and airport shuttle services can be offered at an extra charge while luggage storage facilities are free. The premises are guarded round the clock and onsite parking is also available. Umoja Camp Site is in close proximity to the Samburu National Reserve Main Gate.

Samburu Riverside Camp is a budget Eco friendly camp located inside the Samburu National Reserve. The camp is set close to the Ewaso Nyiro River and offers an atmosphere of complete comfort, customer service. The camp is an ideal spot and hideaway for people who want good value accommodation within budget away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The camp features huts fitted with beds draped with mosquito nets, neat bedding and outdoor showers. Each room is also designed to offer un-obscured views of the environment. Guests can order their meals and drinks at the neighboring restaurant and bars or lodges.
