Sentrim Elementaita Lodge is located at the shores of Lake Elementaita along the Nairobi - Nakuru Highway, 120 km from Nairobi, Kenya. It is also a short distance from Gilgil town. Sentrim Elementaita Lodge is the place for those seeking an exquisite getaway on the shores of Lake Elementaita. The entirely new lodge is spread out in serene surroundings. You will feel your nerves quiet down as soon as you set your eyes on the lodge’s rich view of flamingo and pelican fringed Lake Elementaita. Sentrim Elementaita consists of 84 furnished guest rooms. The rooms are classified as follows: 10 deluxe cottages, 32 ground floor standard cottages, 16 upper floor standard cottages, 4 family houses each with two bedrooms and 18 standard rooms beneath the conference rooms. Sheltering in the lee of the vast volcano known to some as ‘Delamere’s Nose’, and to others as ‘The Sleeping Warrior, lies a stretch of virgin Africa unchanged since the dawn of time. At its heart, lies the 20,000-acre Soysambu Conservancy, which only opened to the public in 2008, thus allowing access to one of the last great Kenyan safari frontiers. The Sleeping Warrior Eco Lodge opened its doors in 2012. The Lodge stands high on a volcanic hill known as Mawe Mbili (Two Stones). Commanding stunning views over the private Soysambu Conservancy towards UNESCO World Heritage Site, Lake Elementaita, it was designed and built by the Damon family and is run by Jacqueline Damon. On top of the hill stands the stone-built reception, lounge and dining room, below which is a stone terrace with fire-pit, a safari bar and extensive landscaped gardens. Below, a track snakes through the acacia to the landscaped terraces where the ten wide-spaced natural stone cottages look out across an addictive view of Africa as she used to be. Accessible to guests, is an infinity pool overseeing the magnificent landscape of the conservancy and a bar for refreshments. The Sleeping Warrior Eco Lodge welcomes children of all ages. Special children’s meals & activities, including baby-sitting, can be provided .he Sleeping Warrior Eco Lodge is powered entirely by solar electricity. The water is heated by sustainably harvested Leleshwa wood, gathered by the Turkana in areas serving as fire breaks. The majority of the furniture is made from re-cycled cedar poles, once used for fencing on the colonial ranch.


Set on 55 acres (22 ha) on private land (no park or conservancy fees) between Nakuru and Gilgil, Sunbird Lodge is named after one of the more than 450 species of birds in this area. Beautifully nestled in a pristine environment above Lake Elementaita (RAMSAR and World Heritage Site) one can experience amazing sunsets.  It is a very small and exclusive lodge, but still affordable with 14 very spacious en-suite cottages and with a huge private veranda. All with a king size bed and an additional single bed, exquisitely built with natural materials and thatched roofs. When you visit Lake Elementaita in the Great Rift Valley, the first impression you have is of profound serenity and the singing of the birds only adds to the ambience of harmony.
