Treetops has a magical Never-Never Land feel appealing to anyone with a sense of fun and adventure. Tarangire National park is literally teeming with wildlife throughout the year. It is home to some of the largest herds of elephant in Africa, and other wild life in this area includes buffalo, lion, cheetah, and leopard. It is also an ornithologist’s paradise, rich in birds of prey.

Chem Chem Safari Lodge is situated in a private concession, Burunge Wildlife Management Area, which lies between Tarangire National Park and Lake Manyara. Chem Chem has done excellent conservation work by purchasing the hunting licenses in the corridor between Manyara and Tarangire, making it safe for wildlife to roam freely. It is without a doubt one of our favorite properties in Tanzania and our clients have always been extremely happy there. The eight spacious tented suites are tastefully decorated and have a deck and day bed that provide a wonderful area to relax and unwind. Luxurious bathrooms include both indoor and outdoor showers and a comfortable bathtub. The lodge doesn’t take children under 12, but accommodation for families with older kids is available. Chem Chem Lodge offers sundowners at Lake Manyara, game drives, bush walks, and sumptuous dinners romantically served in different locations each evening. Guests can visit a Maasai village where the local community shows you their customary ways of life. Day trips to Tarangire or the Lake Manyara National Park (1.5 hours away) can also be arranged. It also has a sister property, Chem Chem Bush Camp which borders Tarangire National Park

Perched on the top of massive granitic rock, the camp has a privileged location in the Tarangire National Park. This National Park is considered as one of the most beautiful shelter of the Tanzanian fauna. Its numerous herds of elephants as well as its huge baobab trees have established Tarangire’s reputation. Spread over 2 850 km², the average altitude of the park reaches 1100 m high. This park also gets its reputation due to the large number of wild animals, hard to find in others parks, one can observe in particular Gerenuk, lesser and greater Kudu, Oryx and Eland. The camp is located in the Northwestern area of Tarangire National Park and is built on top of a massive "kopje" (granite rocks) There are amazing views over Lake Burungi and, away to the north, Lake Manyara in the Rift Valley. On a clear day, the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro is visible from the highest point, up among the rocks of this authentic bush camp. Accommodation comprises13 tents built along the kopje, offering an impressive view over the National Park, the lakes and far on the horizon of the rounded slopes of the ancient volcanoes of the Ngorongoro Highlands. Elephants can come to feed in the vicinity of the tents. The whole camp has a distinct “bush feel,” remote, with minimal impact but safe. All the tents are similarly decorated but retain a certain originality, with a terrace, a bedroom and a dressing room alcove with ensuite bathroom: flush toilets, basin and shower (24-hour electricity and hot water). The restaurant is an attractive circular Banda, an open structure with a wooden floor and makuti roof. The fireplace is the ideal place for enjoying stunning sunsets over the Rift Valley and the lakes and mountains, followed by memorable evenings relaxing under the stars, accompanied by our Maasai staff. Deck chairs are arranged around the fire pit and bar service is available throughout.
