Azura Selous, formally Amara Selous, is a luxurious tented camp located in the Selous Game Reserve which is the largest protected reserve in Africa. Situated on the banks of the Ruaha River, the smart but relaxed Azura Selous opened in 2010 under a different name 'Amara Selous' and is one of the newer lodges in the Selous Game Reserve. The lodge was taken over by Azura who run the very high quality Azura Benguerra in Mozambique. Since opening, the management have put in a lot of time and effort in to raising the standards of the camp, and they have certainly succeeded. Azura Selous has been transformed in to a high quality safari lodge offering excellent guiding in a remote corner of the reserve. The camp overlooks the Ruaha River in a spot where the rapids are fast flowing and the hippos plentiful.  The rooms are unique; part tent, part earthy red stone, with a large bedroom under canvas and a reception area designed to emulate a giant termite mound. They are super stylish, but open to the elements to ensure that you don't lose that wonderful feeling of being out in the wild. Each ‘tented villa’ has a different animal theme, plus a modern stone bathroom with his and hers sinks and an indoor shower, a more rustic outdoor shower, a wooden deck with loungers and a small natural plunge pool down towards the river – the perfect place to keep cool. There’s also air-conditioning, which is rare to find in safari camps! Azura Selous is located in a very secluded area of the park and is one of the most luxurious tented camps in the Selous.

Lake Manze Camp is set right in the heart of the best game area in the Selous, and is, arguably, one of the best value options in Africa! It is set up on an elephant run and has continued to receive good ratings from guests.  Expensive is not necessarily the best! Lake Manze Camp is what a "roughing it" camp is all about. The location of the camp, on the shores of Lake Manze was chosen wisely, for the prolific game that is resident in the area. In the camp itself,  you will regularly find  bull elephant wandering through, munching on the palm nuts that fall in-between the tents. The tents themselves are simple with running water, showers and comfy double/twin beds in each. They also have a verandah area out at the front from which to watch the elephants and the world go by. There are not real frills to talk of, but they have just what you need to make the most of this stunning area. The communal areas are fairly simple and the food, likewise, is wholesome rather than gourmet....but this all just adds to the charm of the place. The focus in Lake Manze Camp is on the experience of the game and the service. All of the staff are really welcoming and friendly and, at the end of the hard day out in the bush, it is great to be able to relax with a G&T around the camp fire....this is what being out in the bush is all about!
