Kibale National Park



Kyaninga Lodge is set against the stunning backdrop of Lake Kyaninga and the Rwenzori Mountains beyond.  Kyaninga Lodge is the spectacular result of one man’s vision and six years of unwavering commitment to creating an experience of Africa’s beauty unlike anything else. For adventurous at heart, there is a secluded Sky Tree House (not self-contained) about 200m deep in the forest. Hang upon a gigantic tree and elevated about 10m above the ground overlooking an elephant meadow, it enjoys excellent views over the forest canopy and is regularly visited by black and white colobus monkeys, red tailed monkeys, blue monkeys, forest elephants, even chimpanzee at times. Her one bedroom comes fitted with a single size bunk bed providing comfortable sleeping for maximum two persons on separate beds. Guests dine and refresh at the main lodge dining room and need to be escorted to/from the Tree House before dusk and after day break. There is also an adjacent camp site as well as a take away restaurant for convenience (please your own camping gear if you would prefer the camp site). Other lodge amenities include a spacious dining terrace, a well-stocked bar, complimentary room service, a secluded lounge area with a small library, an evening camp fire, laundry service (at a small fee) as well as free wifi in the public areas.

With modern solar power, you will always have hot water and electrical charging points. The lodge has a swimming pool overlooking the lake, which provides the perfect space for you to relax and unwind. Here you can soak up the peace and tranquility of Lake Kyaninga and the mountains beyond. The Lounge & Dining provide a relaxing atmosphere to relax by the fire with a drink from the fully stocked bar after a yummy dinner.


Ndali Lodge is set in a stunning location on the rim an extinct volcano which has now filled with water to become the breathtaking Lake Nyinambuga – 250 acres in size and 130 metres deep. Ndali Lodge is a fantastic traditional colonial lodge set in the stunning crater region of Western Uganda. Built of local stone and thatch, the 8 luxury bandas offer views over the dramatic Rwenzori Mountains and each banda is en-suite with a private veranda. The dining room and lounge offer relaxing views over the crater lake below. This is a great base from where to track the chimpanzees of Kibale Forest. Ndali Lodge does have hot and cold running water however all lighting is by candle or storm lantern! For the more adventurous it is possible to go for an early morning dip in the Crater Lake.  The lodge has 8 cottages providing luxurious accommodation for 16 guests and children are welcome in this lodge.


Rweteera Safari Park is situated adjacent to the Kibale National park and is an affordable place to explore chimpanzee tracking. The Campsite offers basic room facilities including a mosquito net, desk and chair and free Wi-Fi.  There is a shared kitchen with basic facility for self catering. The wooden cabin features en suite bathroom/toilet. A unique experience and one not to be missed is a 'Lake Dinner', on the lakeside with black & white colobus monkeys keeping you company. The property also offers packed lunches. An onsite restaurant and bar are available; guests can enjoy both alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks. complimentary breakfast is served daily. Bike hire and car hire are available at the property and the area is popular for cycling and fishing around crater lakes. Guests can enjoy various activities in the surroundings, including canoeing, tea/coffee plantations and crater lakes hiking.


Kibale Forest Camp is suited off Fort port-Kamwenge, subsequent to the Kibale National Park’s edge. The camp is well designed with about 7 safari tents; containing double beds with en-suite bathroom along with an eco friendly toilet. The verandah will give you a perfect view of the colobus monkeys in the forest. Activities include Chimp tracking, Forest walk, hiking at the slopes of Mount Rwenzori, Cultural heritage and Bigodi village walk discovering the crater lakes.


Chimps’ Nest is a right birder’s ecstasy. The lodge margins Kibale Forest on a gorgeous piece of land with a stunning view of Kibale Forest along with the snow capped peaks of Mount Rwenzori. The common areas that visit this place include the monkeys, chimps as well as forest elephants. The lodge is suited adjacent Nyabubale a well known village between Nkingo and Bigodi. It’s just a 15 minutes drive from Kanyanchu the focal point of UWA for chimp tracking as well as other activities in the park. The local foods grown around include pineapple, ginger jam, peanut butter, and honey along with filtered coffee. Chimp’s Nest is established in a natural setting with local materials and solar energy for light. It’s acknowledged to be an eco-friendly lodge. Accommodation features beautiful self contained cottages, tree house in addition to family cottages. The restaurants serve both international and local cuisines with hospitable waitresses. All cottages have privacy with a perfect view of the wildlife such as birds, chimps, elephants, monkeys and Kibale forest at large. Chimpanzee Forest Guest House is located on the Kamwenge Road, with easy access from Fort Portal some 25 minutes drive away in a well graded road.    The main lodge building and garden cottages all stand in well manicured lawns. It’s a Ugandan family owned and managed facility, with 3en-suite cottages with views of Kibale Forest and over the tea estate and the forth cottage also en-suite faces towards the Rwenzori Mountains. The rooms in the main house are colonial styled and have shared bathroom facilities. There is a huge new thatched dining room, bar and lounge has been constructed in the gardens, enjoy the views and natural surroundings. The food is well presented. The staff are attentive and the drinks cold enough to enjoy yet another wonderful African sunset from an easy chair in the garden in a very relaxed style. The Kanyanchu visitors centre in the Kibale Forest is an 11km drive that took 20 minutes to drive to where the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary is a further 5 km along the road. The idyllic Lake Nkuruba is a walk able distance from the Guest House via the 'Top of the World' view point.
