SILVERBACK LODGE

Silverback Lodge is perched on high, atop the valley overlooking Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The view is absolutely stunning and the best place to enjoy après-tracking cocktails. GORILLA FOREST CAMP

Gorilla Forest Camp is a magnificent camp located on a steep hillside within Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The beauty of the camp is due to the fact that it was established within the thick rain-forest. It is next to the park entry well known to be a focal point where gorillas start their tracking. The camp is well designed with high quality facilities along with a breath-taking bathtub that overlooks the rain-forest. The tents are extremely large with a wooden deck for visitors who may want to relax or experience life privately without interference. They have a fully stocked bar with a well designed dining area. The cuisine favors both local and international guests from different parts of the world.

THE GORILLA SAFARI LODGE

The Gorilla Safari Lodge is a relaxed and luxurious lodge on the boundary line of Bwindi Forest. The lodge focuses on top quality service, good food and comfortable accommodation providing the ideal base for outstanding gorilla trekking opportunities. Gorilla Safari Lodge offers its guests luxury accommodation in eleven spacious cottages, each providing the perfect setting to relax after an exciting day of trekking. The well-appointed cottages all have solar-powered lighting, en-suite bathroom with hot and cold water and flush toilets and individual verandahs offering excellent views of the unspoiled tropical rain-forest. LAKE KITANDARA TENTED CAMP

Lake Kitandara Tented Camp is a mid-range camp found in the middle of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. it is the ideal place to base for  gorilla tracking adventure. Built in 1994, it  has hosted several guests since its opening. Accommodation comprises of 20 furnished tents having twin plus double beds. Each tent features a bathroom having hot plus cold water. There are also camping facilities avaialable. There are solar powered lights in every tent.A nicely designed verandah looking over the Impenetrable forest, offers you an opportunity to various wildlife and if lucky even Mountain gorillas moving about the camp. There are also provisions for charging batteries and other electrical gadgets. Meals are tasty and properly prepared with international and local dishes prepared. The staff are friendly and ready to serve you in accordance with your preference. They offer packed lunch for those going gorilla tracking. CUCKOOLAND

Cuckooland is a small, comfortable mid-range lodge in a spectacular setting, right on the edge of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, with superb views overlooking the forest. Set in 10 acres of grounds, built almost entirely of locally sourced natural materials, accommodation consists of 4 spacious comfortably furnished double tents, built on wooden platforms and with a thatched roof and large veranda. Each unit is complete with its own toilet, and shower, with solar-heated hot water and is situated less than 20 metres from the edge of the forest, providing a wonderful vantage point for viewing the prolific birdlife and different primates which are especially drawn to the fruiting trees at the forest edge.  Enjoy the delicious organic food from the restaurant as you enjoy view of the surrounding forest. Cuckooland is around 2 km from the nearest other dwellings, the small settlement of Murushasha, Ruhija and equally far from the road, so visitors are assured of complete tranquillity with the only sounds being those of the forest. It is conveniently situated 15 kms (30-40 mins) from Ruija, the nearest gorilla tracking station.

NKURINGO CAMPSITE AND ADJOINING HAMMERKOP BUNKHOUSE

Buhoma Community Haven Lodge opened in December 2014 to help BMCDA cater for clients interested in something more than budget accommodation.The lodge's spacious site lies above Buhoma village, a 5-minute drive from the main road, and this elevated location guarantees best views across Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Accommodation comprises 6 beautifully designed twin/double cottages and 1 family cottage, all self-contained (en suite) and merging simple elegance with local materials. This lodge was constructed with support from people of America (USADF)… thanks to tax payers of America and Uganda, their compliance is helping change the lives of many.

BUHOMA COMMUNITY REST CAMP

Buhoma Community Rest Camp has been the backbone of BMCDA since its inception in 1993. Accommodation comprises 6 well furnished and self-contained (en suite) safari tents, 3 self-contained cottages, and 2 non-self-contained twin cottage bandas. All the bandas are built with local materials and are of African architectural design. Available is also 6-bed dormitory as well as several camp sites.

NKURINGO CAMPSITE AND ADJOINING HAMMERKOP BUNKHOUSE

Nkuringo Campsite and adjoining Hammerkop Bunkhouse are located at 2160m above sea level on a hill overlooking a beautiful swath of the world renowned Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. This forest is home to the latest group of Mountain Gorillas to be habituated by the Uganda Wildlife Authority. This gorilla family known as the Nkuringo group can be tracked directly from the Nkuringo Campsite and Hammerkop Bunkhouse for those with tracking permits available to individuals and tour operators from the Uganda Wildlife Authority in Kampala. This is one of the world’s most amazing wildlife spectacles and should not be missed by visitors to the region. With panoramic views of the majestic volcanoes of the Virunga chain the campsite and bunk house offer budget travelers a unique opportunity to experience the wonders of Nkuringo certainly one of the remotest locations in the country.

Accommodation is provided in the campsite in three simple twin bedded bandas. The Hammerkop Bunkhouse offers 5 twin bedded rooms. For those with their own equipment camping is US$5 per tent. Facilities include a simple restaurant and for those self-catering, an eating shelter is available for cooking and food preparation. Basic local meals are available in the trading centre of Ntungamo some 100m from the campsite and bunkhouse. Hot water can be prepared for bathing but please be aware water is a valuable commodity in Nkuringo by virtue of the campsite and bunk house sitting on a ridge some 700m above the river, the only local water source. Porters deliver water from the river for visitors. Rain water harvesting from house roofs is standard practice in the wet season.

BWINDI GORILLA CONSERVATION CAMP

Gorilla Conservation Camp is located in Buhoma Village, the main tourist site for Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Adjacent to the Gorilla Conservation Camp is the Gorilla Health and Community Conservation Centre where we monitor gorilla health through checking on sick gorillas and collecting gorilla faecal samples, which we then analyze at our field laboratory. Gorilla fecal samples are collected by park rangers and trackers and members of the Human-Gorilla Conflict Resolution Teams (HUGOs), who are trained to ensure maximum security and good relations between the local community and the gorillas by chasing gorillas back to their forest home when they forage on community land. The Gorilla Conservation Camp, provides restaurant and accommodation facilities for visitors and tourists. CTPH (Conservation Through Public Health) is also located here and the centre hosts interns, students and researchers conducting their studies under the guidance and supervision of Conservation Through Public Health (CTPH) staff.

BWINDI GUEST HOUSE

Bwindi guest house is owned and operated by volunteers and Bwindi Hospital and exists to support and help the work of doctors working in Bwindi Hospital, Nursing Schools and Batwa Community. Bwindi guest house, comprises of 6 guest houses, and provides intensive services to the visitors and tourists worldwide; it was mainly built by volunteers who were handed over to maintain the guest house for the benefits of Bwindi community hospital. All visitors at Bwindi guest house are offered a free tour to the hospital premises and the nursing school and given information of the history of the Bwindi community hospital. It is located at the Buhoma sector northwards of Bwindi impenetrable national park and it offers a wide range of accommodation options depending on the travellers’ budget options depending on the traveller’s budget. Facilities include internet, free parking space, security, bar and lounge, camp fires, laundry services. Activities include Gorilla trekking, mountain biking, guided nature forest walks, bird watching, cultural visits to the Batwa people. It is 5 minutes’ walk from the Uganda Wild life authority headquarters.
